KENNESAW, Ga. – University of North Florida women's basketball finishes up its two-game road trip to the Peach State when the Ospreys face Kennesaw State on Monday night at the KSU Convocation Center.
“Kennesaw State is coming off a win on Saturday and is a very hungry team,” said head coach Mary Tappmeyer. “They are very aggressive and it will be another challenging game for us. We must bounce back from our disappointing effort at Mercer.”
The Ospreys come off a 51-49 setback at Mercer on Saturday. For the third-straight game, UNF had three players in double-digit scoring. Jadhken Kerr scored a season-high tying 16 points, while Ki Conner and Raneisha Lamar chipped in with 13 and 10 points. The Ospreys are 4-2 this season when three players score 10-or-more points.
Destinee Smith is the only Georgia native on UNF's 2012-13 roster. Smith is from Decatur, Georgia, which like the city of Kennesaw, is a suburb of Atlanta.
Kennesaw State has won two of its last three games, including Saturday's 57-51 victory over Jacksonville. Sametria Gideon and Chelsea Mason each scored 20 points in the Owls' six-point victory. Gideon is averaging 11.6 ppg and an Atlantic Sun-best 10.3 rpg. She and Kristina Wells both average a team-high 11.6 ppg, while Ashley Holliday and Mason each average 9.9 ppg.
The most played series in UNF history, Kennesaw State leads the all-time series 18-15. The Ospreys have won four of the last five games, including this season's earlier meeting. UNF held on for a 52-49 win over the Owls in at UNF Arena on Jan. 12.
