BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Despite the cold and wintery conditions outside, the North Florida basketball team looks to heat things up on the hardwood Saturday night at 7:30 p.m., for their game against Indiana in historic Assembly Hall.
The Ospreys (5-5), look to rebound after a tough loss Wednesday night at Alabama. Against the Tide, UNF finished with a season low 48 points and struggled to get started early in both halves.
Senior Travis Wallace continues to pace UNF in both scoring and rebounding, averaging 12.4 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. At 10.3 points per game, freshman Dallas Moore is the only other player averaging in double figures for the Ospreys.
After winning their first five games of the season, Indiana (6-2) has dropped two of its last three including a 69-52 road loss at Syracuse on Tuesday. The Hoosiers have enjoyed success at home this season boasting an undefeated 5-0 mark and also own a 34-game non-conference home win streak
Yogi Ferrell averages 17.4 points a game to lead IU, while Noah Vonleh averages nearly a double-double per game with 13.4 points and 9.9 rebounds.
Saturday's game marks the first all-time meeting between UNF and IU. It is the second of three games this season for the Osprey against a team from the Big Ten Conference, with North Florida having posted an 0-6 mark against league teams.
The game is being carried live on the Big Ten Network and online at BTN2Go.com. Eric Collins will serve as the play-by-play announcer with Stephen Bardo handling the color anaylst duties. In addition, "Voice of the Ospreys", Robert Harper will be broadcasting the game live on radio at 1010 XL AM/92.5 FM in the Jacksonville area. The radio broadcast is also available online at 1010xl.com.
Following Saturday's tilt with Indiana, North Florida will take a week off from competition as the team participates in fall semester exams at UNF. The Ospreys return to action Dec. 17 on the road against No. 1-ranked Michigan State.
