JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The North Florida basketball team closes out its non-conference schedule against in-state foe Bethune-Cookman in UNF Arena on Saturday at 7 p.m.
The Ospreys (5-7) look to extend their current three-game home win streak when they host the Wildcats (2-12). UNF hope to snap a three-game losing skid having dropped tough games on the road at Alabama, Indiana and Michigan State.
A win for UNF would match the program's Division I era mark for most non-conference wins with six set in 2011-12.
Senior Travis Wallace continues to lead the Ospreys in both scoring (11.2 points per game) and rebounding (7.0 rebounds per game) this season. Freshman Dallas Moore is also scoring in double digits at 10.8 points per game. Junior newcomer Jalen Nesbitt is coming off one of his best performances having tallied a career best 11 points and a team-leading seven rebounds on Tuesday night against No. 5-ranked Michigan State.
Bethune-Cookman has lost its last 10 games heading into Saturday's contest including a 71-59 loss at Youngstown State on Tuesday. The Wildcats will be playing their 10 consecutive road game Saturday and are still in search of their first win of the season over a Division I opponent. Mikel Trapp averages 12.0 points per game in pacing the BCU attack.
Saturday's game marks the third all-time meeting between North Florida and Bethune-Cookman on the hardwood, with the Ospreys claiming the previous two match-ups including a 71-65 victory in Daytona Beach last season. This will be the third straight season the Ospreys and Wildcats have
