JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- After opening the season with three consecutive road games, the North Florida basketball team makes its home debut against Southern University in UNF Arena, Saturday at 7 p.m. The game has been designated as "Military Appreciation Night."
The Ospreys posted a 1-2 mark on their season opening trek earning a win at UALR on Monday night before dropping a hard-fought 77-70 decision at Middle Tennessee on Wednesday.
Against the Blue Raiders, senior Travis Wallace scored a season-best 18 points, while freshman Chris Davenport collected his first career double-double finishing with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Wallace, who has reached double figures in every game, leads the Ospreys in scoring and rebounding through three games averaging 15.3 points and 8.3 rebounds a game. Sophmore Beau Beech along with freshmen Dallas Moore and Romelo Banks are all averaging 9.0 points a game.
Southern comes into Saturday night's tilt at 0-3 after slipping 79-73 at home to Tulane on Wednesday night. The Jaguars are led in scoring by SWAC preseason Player of the Year Malcolm Miller at 17.3 points a game.
Saturday's meeting marks the first game between the UNF and SU. The Ospreys own a 2-0 all-time mark against teams from the SWAC having bested both Prairie View A&M and Jackson State in the last three years.
The North Florida Athletics department is providing free admission to Saturday night's game to all active and former military personnel (with military ID or proof of service) along with an additional free admission for one immediate family member. In addition, a $5 meal deal at the concession stand will also be available for military members.
The first 500 fans through the gates at UNF Arena will also receive a free UNF Basketball Schedule Magnet.

Single game men's and doubleheader ticket prices are $12 Reserved (Sec. 5-14), $10 Adults, $8 (Youth 17-under, Senior Citizens 55+, Active Military, UNF Faculty/Staff), UNF students with valid Osprey1 card and children under 2 are free.
