JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida men's soccer team wraps up its preseason with an exhibition match against Rollins College at 7:00 p.m. at Hodges Stadium.
The exhibition will be the second of the preseason for the Ospreys. On Saturday, Aug. 11, the men's soccer team opened up the exhibition season with a 0-0 draw on the road against Embry-Riddle in Daytona Beach, Fla.
One the night, the Ospreys had several opportunities to score. Alex Morrell's shot off of a pass from Jean Rivaroli hit the post. In addition, Mauricio Valderruten had a late one-on-one break away but his shot was just off the mark. The tandem of Brad Sienkiewicz and Kyle Nasta held the home team scoreless for the combined shutout.
The match with Rollins is the first and only home exhibition match of the year for North Florida.
Last season, the Ospreys underwent a rebuilding season under first-year head coach Derek Marinatos. However, with a core group of returners and a solid nucleus of newcomers, the men's soccer team is looking to improve upon the 2011 season. This season UNF welcomes 10 newcomers to the team to compliment 12 returners, including six starters.
