JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The home schedule for University of North Florida softball comes to an end on Tuesday when the Ospreys hosts No. 20/21 at the UNF Softball Complex.
UNF faces its first ranked team of the season in Florida State. Both North Carolina and Kentucky were receiving votes when the Ospreys played those two teams earlier this year. The Ospreys will use the home finale to try and snap a four-game home skid, which includes a pair of losses to Jacksonville in the team's last outing. UNF returns to the playing field after a week-and-a-half break in between games. The Ospreys are an all-time 11-1 in home finales in their Division I years.
Florida State ends an eight-day hiatus after last being in action with a three-game series sweep of Boston College at Joanne Graf Field in its regular-season home finale. However, Florida State has dropped its last three non-conference games – including its last two that were on the road. Tiffani Brown leads the team with 57 hits and 41 runs, while Briana Hamilton has a team-best 11 homers. Florida State's pitching staff has one of the lowest ERAs in the nation, ranking eighth. Lacey Waldrop has a 1.20 ERA in 145.1 innings pitched, while Moncia Perry's recorded 173 strikeouts in 152.1 innings.
Florida State leads the all-time series 5-1 and swept last year's doubleheader in Tallahassee. However, the two teams split the last doubleheader at the UNF Softball Complex. The Seminoles won the first game 7-0, but UNF took a 5-3 win in Game Two.
First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 4 p.m.
