JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida baseball team returns to action with a three-game Atlantic Sun Conference series against Lipscomb at Dusty Rhodes Field at Harmon Stadium. First pitch on Friday night is slated for 6:00 p.m., while Saturday and Sunday's games are scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
All three games over the weekend will be available on ASun.TV and WBOB 600 AM with the “Voice of the Ospreys” Robert Harper (@UNFVoice) handling the play-by-play. Live stats and in-game Tweets (@UNFOspreys) will be available during the games.
The Ospreys enter the week with a 21-15 overall record and a 4-8 mark in the Atlantic Sun. The Bison are 15-17 overall and 8-4 in conference. Lipscomb is currently tied for second place in the conference, while North Florida is tied for seventh.
North Florida has won three of its last four games. Overall, the Ospreys are 11-5 this season at Harmon Stadium. Lipscomb is 16-7 overall at Ken Dugan Stadium, but is 0-8 on the road and 0-2 at neutral sites.
The games with the Bison mark just the second Atlantic Sun Conference home series this season for the Ospreys. UNF is 1-2 in A-Sun play at Harmon Stadium, dropping a series with USC Upstate the final weekend of March.
The Ospreys hold an 11-7 advantage in the all-time series. The two teams have met nine times previously at Harmon Stadium with UNF claiming six victories in Jacksonville.
Last season, North Florida won the series with Lipscomb, 2-1, in Nashville. After dropping a 4-2 decision, the Ospreys claimed a 6-4 victory in the second game. In the rubber match of the series, UNF earned a 7-5 win to take the series.
In the last meeting between the two teams in Jacksonville, the Ospreys edged the Bison, 5-4, in the first game and took the series with a 13-12 victory. LU prevented the sweep with an 18-8 win.
Scouting the Opposition:
Lipscomb is set to play their first road A-Sun series of the season since opening up conference play at USC Upstate. The Bison are 8-1 in conference at home, but dropped all three A-Sun games on the road.
Looking to avenge a 4-3 loss last month at UT Martin, the Lipscomb baseball team plated seven runs in the first three innings en route to routing the Skyhawks 15-4 on Wednesday night at Ken Dugan Field at Stephen L. Marsh Stadium in Nashville.
