
Women's Tennis Wins 5-2 at UNC Wilmington

WILMINGTON, N.C. – University of North Florida women's tennis began its two-match road trip with a 5-2 victory at UNC Wilmington on Saturday.
The Ospreys captured the doubles point by taking the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles matches. Aline Berkenbrock and Lorena Aviles posted an 8-3 victory over Kelly Cameron and Angie Sekely at No. 1. Simona Weymar and Rebeca Pereira had an 8-6 win at No. 3 against Miller Hales and Casey Dashiell. Meanwhile, Danielle Day and Melanie Aguirre dropped an 8-5 match to Christina Lee and Alyssa Ritchie at No. 2.
At singles, UNF won the top three spots and No. 6. Berkenbrock defeated Lee 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1, while Lorena Aviles went 7-5, 6-1 against Sekely at No. 2. After falling 6-2 in the first set, Day came back with 6-3, 6-3 second and third sets versus Cameron at No. 3 singles. Marina Cunningham took No. 6 singles against Dashiell 6-3, 7-6 (4).
UNC Wilmington won a pair of close matches at No. 4 and No. 5 singles. Ritchie defeated Aguirre 7-5, 6-4 at No. 4, and Christina Riley defeated Pereira 6-2, 5-7, 6-4.
UNF completes its road trip on Sunday when the Ospreys travel to No. 70 College of Charleston. Match time is set for 1 p.m.
