Men's Soccer Edged by Flagler 1-0 in Exhibition

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Sophomore forward Ricky Lawrence tallied three shots as University of North Florida Men's Soccer dropped its season-opening exhibition to Flagler, 1-0. The match was balanced with the Saints using an early first half goal to take an early lead which they would not relinquish.
North Florida recorded six shots on the night compared to eight shots by Flagler. Each team recorded a pair of shots on goal on the night. The Ospreys recorded all six shots in the first half, while the Saints recorded a majority of their shots in the second stanza.
The Saints were able to net a goal in the 15th minute of the match as Flagler's Zach Shanahan was able to score off of a deflected shot off of the crossbar.
For the Ospreys, Lawrence led all players with three shots, while freshman Mauricio Valderruten added a pair of shots. Both players each recorded a shot on goal in the match. The final shot of the night for UNF came from sophomore Josh Ciambella.
North Florida returns to action as the Ospreys head to Wilmington, N.C. to take on UNC Wilmington in an exhibition match on Saturday, Aug. 20, at 2:00 p.m.
