
UNF Rolls Past Charlotte, 6-1

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida women's tennis team rolled past Charlotte, 6-1 on Sunday afternoon at the UNF Tennis Complex in Jacksonville, Fla.
The Ospreys (4-2) swept the doubles matches to get off to a 1-0 start. Junior Aline Berkenbrock and freshman Simona Weymar paired up at No. 1 to defeat Alexandra Zinn and Andrea Rivera, 8-4.
In the No. 2 doubles, junior Danielle Day and sophomore Melanie Aguirre paired up to claim an 8-0 decision over the Charlotte (8-7) duo of Iveta Guneva and Emmanuelle Briant, 8-0. Senior Victoria Krook and freshman Melinda Doak teamed up at No. 3 to down Gabi Vergara and Anna Ekelund, 8-6.
UNF continued to roll in the singles matches, winning five points in straight sets. Berkenbrock defeated Zinn, 6-1, 7-5 at No. 1 while Day dropped Rivera, 6-4, 6-0 at No. 2.
In the No. 3 Krook secured a 6-2, 6-1 win over Gabi Vergara and Aguirre notched a 6-2, 6-0 win over Briant in the No. 4.
Weymar picked up the point at No. 5, defeating Ekelund, 7-5, 6-2.
UNF will return to action on Wednesday, March 6 at 2 p.m. when the Ospreys host Penn at the UNF Tennis Complex.
