Women’s Tennis Defeats ETSU, 4-3

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida women's tennis team defeated Atlantic Sun Conference foe East Tennessee State, 4-3 on Friday afternoon at the UNF Tennis Complex in Jacksonville, Fla.
UNF (3-2, 1-0 A-Sun) got off to a solid start, claiming the doubles point early with wins at the No. 2 and 3. Junior and the current Atlantic Sun Player of the Year, Aline Berkenbrock was back on the court for the Ospreys after being sidelined early in the season with an injury. She teamed up with freshman Simona Weymar to claim an 8-2 decision at the No. 2 over Giulia Andreazza and Kelly Holtzhausen.
In the No. 3, senior Victoria Krook and freshman Melinda Doak paired up for an 8-4 win over Marine Wieliczko and Diana Navrostska.
Berkenbrock stepped back into the No. 1 singles spot and secured a win in straight sets over Holtzhausen with scores of 6-2, 6-0.
Junior Danielle Day secured a point at No. 2 for the Ospreys with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Paula Jaime. In the No. 5, Weymar claimed a win over Navrostska in straight sets with decisions of 6-2, 6-4.
Krook battled in the No. 3, forcing Wieliczko to a tiebreaker. Krook claimed the opening set 6-2 before falling 6-3 in the second. The two went into a tiebreaker with Wieliczko claiming the match with a score of 10-6.
The Ospreys will remain at home for their next two matches beginning with Charlotte on Sunday, March 6 at 11 a.m.
