
Ospreys Sweep Spartans, 7-0

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The University of North Florida women's tennis team controlled the match against Atlantic Sun foe USC Upstate, sweeping the Spartans, 7-0 on Friday afternoon at the USC Upstate Tennis Complex in Spartanburg, S.C.
UNF (6-2, 2-0 A-Sun) claimed the doubles point early, winning all three matches. Aline Berkenbrock and Simona Weymar teamed up at No. 1 to defeat Karen Martinez and Talia Rojas, 8-1.
In the No. 2 doubles, Danielle Day and Melanie Aguirre secured an 8-2 win over Ana-Sofia Caberos and Maria Tonani. Victoria Krook and Melinda Doak paired up in the No. 3 match to drop Catherine Estupinan and Samantha Knopsnyder, 8-1.
The Ospreys continued their run into singles play as Berkenbrock secured a win at No. 1 in straight sets over Camberos with scores of 6-4, 6-2. In the No. 2 Day secured a win in straight sets, defeating Martinez 6-0, 7-5.
Krook picked up a win at the No. 3 with scores of 6-1, 6-3 over Tonani while Aguirre secured the UNF point in the No. 4 with a 6-0, 6-0 decision over Estupinan.
In the No. 5 match, Weymar defeated Rojas, 6-4, 6-3. Doak also claimed a win at the No. 6 with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Knopsnyder.
The Ospreys will wrap up their road swing at conference opponent Campbell on Saturday, March 12 beginning at 10 a.m.
