
No. 70 UNF Hits the Road for a Pair of Matches

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – No. 70 University of North Florida women's tennis team will head to Birmingham, Ala. take to the road for a pair of matches beginning Saturday, Feb. 19 with a 10 a.m. match against Samford. UNF will face UAB on Sunday, Feb. 20 at Noon.
UNF (1-0) swept Florida A&M, 7-0 to open the season. The Ospreys claimed wins in the No. 1 and 2 doubles match to secure the point early.
In singles junior Danielle Day secured a win at No. 1 while sophomore Melanie Aguirre won at No. 2. Senior Victoria Krook picked up a point at No. 3. Freshmen Simona Weymar (No. 4) Melinda Doak (No. 5) and Alison Viana (No. 6) also secured points for the Ospreys.
Samford (3-0) is coming off a 6-1 win over Jacksonville State. The Bulldogs have eight returners and five starters from last season's team that finished 17-6 and 9-1 in the Southern Conference.
UAB (1-1) picked up a fell to UCF 6-1 in their last match. The Blazers' Evelien Strijker picked up the lone point for the team in the match.
Following the trip to Birmingham, the Ospreys will remain on the road, traveling to Charleston S.C. to face Charleston Southern and College of Charleston, Feb.24 and 25, respectively.
