
Women’s Basketball Hits the Road to Face ETSU

UNF Game Notes
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida women's basketball team returns to the road for a Saturday, Feb. 12 game at Atlantic Sun foe East Tennessee State. Game time is set for 1:30 p.m. at the Memorial Center in Johnson City, Tenn.
UNF (11-12, 9-5 A-Sun) is riding a five game win streak and has won nine of its last ten games. The five game streak is the longest for the Ospreys since joining the A-Sun in 2005. UNF defeated crosstown rival JU, 55-49 the last time out to complete a season sweep of the Dolphins for the first time in program history.
Senior Juliemay Syquio led a balanced Osprey attack with 12 points and nine rebounds. Junior Brittany Kirkland had 11 points and freshman Jade Givens added 10. Sophomores Larkira Jones and Taylor Smith had nine points and grabbed eight and nine rebounds, respectively.
Kirkland leads UNF on the season, averaging 15 points per game. Smith is adding 8.3 points while Syquio is putting up 7.4 points and handing out 3.43 assists per game. Jones is pulling down 9.0 rebounds per game and tallying a league leading 2.13 blocks per game.
ETSU (14-10, 11-4 A-Sun) has a trio of players averaging double digits this season as Tara Davis leads the way with 15.4 points per game. Destiny Mitchell is adding 15.1 points and 9.3 rebounds per game while Natalie Pickwell is notching 10.9 points per game.
The Lady Bucs hold the 8-3 advantage over the Ospreys, but UNF picked up the 65-62 win earlier this season at UNF Arena. Kirkland had 25 points for UNF and Jones posted a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Davis tallied 21 points for the Lady Bucs with Mitchell adding 16.
UNF will remain on the road to face USC Upstate on Monday, Feb. 14 at 7 p.m.
