Game Notes
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Playing its third game in the last five days and second against a nationally-ranked opponent, the North Florida basketball team faces No. 3 Ohio State Monday at 8:30 p.m. at Value City Arena.
The Ospreys (1-3) have already played at No. 7 Florida and Miami on this road swing. The game marks the eighth ranked opponent for UNF in the last two seasons and the third this season. The Buckeyes (3-0) will be hosting their fourth consecutive game.
In their last outing Saturday at Miami, UNF mounted a late charge but came up short in their comeback bid. Travis Wallace scored 14 of his team-best 16 points in the second half and Jerron Granberry posted all 12 of his points in the first half to lead the Ospreys. Wallace and Andy Diaz combined for 16 rebounds helping UNF win the battle of the boards versus the Hurricanes.
For the season, Diaz tops UNF in both scoring and rebounding averaging 12.0 points and 6.3 rebounds per game, while Wallace ranks second in both categories with 10.3 ppg and 5.5 rpg. Granberry also averages double-digit points scoring 10 points per contest.
Monday's contest marks the first meeting between the Ospreys and Buckeyes on the hardwood. It will also be just UNF's second match-up against a Big Ten Conference opponent.
In their first three games, OSU has posted a 27.3 points per game margin of victory including an 85-41 win over Jackson State in their last outing. All-American Jared Sullinger paces the Buckeyes' attack with 18.3 points and 8.7 rebounds per game.
