
UNF to Face Campbell in A-Sun Road Game

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The University of North Florida women's basketball team is set to square off against Atlantic Sun foe Campbell University on Wednesday, Jan. 5 in a 5:15 p.m. contest at Pope Convocation Center in Buies Creek, N.C.
UNF (2-9, 0-2 A-Sun) begins the bulk of A-Sun play against the Camels after playing two conference games in at the beginning of December.
Leading the Ospreys on the season is junior Brittany Kirkland with 14.7 points per game, placing her fourth in the conference in scoring. Senior Juliemay Syquio is adding 8.5 points per game. Sophomore Larkira Jones is grabbing a team best 6.2 rebounds per game and ranks seventh in the league. Jones is also putting up 1.27 blocks per game and is third in the conference.
The Camels (2-10, 1-2 A-Sun) defeated Jacksonville, 77-65 on Monday. Leading CU is Tonisha Baker with 11.0 points per game. Lauren Yesh is adding 8.1 points per game and pulling down 6.0 rebounds per game. Kate Cloxton is tallying 8.0 points per game.
Campbell holds the slight, 5-4 advantage over the Ospreys, but UNF picked up the last win with a 74-48 win last season in Jacksonville. The two teams split during the 2009-10 campaign with the Camels securing a 64-52 win last year in Buies Creek.
Syquio, Kirkland and sophomore Jadhken Kerr put up similar numbers in both games last season. Syquio scored 15 points in both contests while Kirkland had 13 on the road and 14 at home. Kerr notched 12 points in both games.
Following Wednesday's game, the Ospreys will remain on the road for a pair of A-Sun games in Nashville, Tenn., beginning with Belmont on Saturday, Jan. 8 followed by Lipscomb on Monday, Jan. 10.
