GAME 1 RECAP
In the first inning, the Ospreys did not score a run, but had one hit courtesy of Hale. The hit was significant as it moved Hale into sole possession of first place in North Florida history in career hits.
The Bruins were the first team to score a run, plating a runner in the bottom of the first inning. With one out, a single started things off for the designated home team. The runner stole second base to move into scoring position. A second base hit scored the first run of the game. After a walk, the Ospreys induced a double play to end the inning, but trailed 1-0 after an inning.
North Florida threatened in the top of the fourth inning. With two outs, UNF used back-to-back singles by Preckajlo and David Eldredge to place runners on the corners. Belmont escaped the threat as a ground ball ended the inning.
Belmont increased its lead to 4-0 with three runs in the fifth inning. The Bruins placed runners on first and second with a couple of singles, but a three-run home run to left field scored the runners and saw the Ospreys trailing by four after five innings.
UNF cut the deficit to just three with one swing of the bat. Preckajlo led off the seventh inning with his team-leading 10th home run of the season to cut the Bruins lead to 4-1.
Neither team was able to generate any offense in the final innings as Belmont claimed game one, 4-1.

The Bruins added three more runs in the bottom of the third inning. With two runners on and two outs, Belmont moved both runners into scoring position with a double steal. The next batter doubled to plate two runs. Belmont's next batter singled to right field to score the third run of the inning and give the designated home team a 5-0 advantage after three innings of play.
The Ospreys scored their first run of the ballgame with a solo home run by Hale in the top of the fourth inning. The home run was Hale's eighth of the season.

The Ospreys rallied in the top of the ninth, but could not over come the nine-run deficit. With one out, Steve Hillan delivered a pinch hit single down the left field line. Martin followed with an RBI double down the right field line. Corey Bass came through with a pinch hit single up the middle, but Martin was called out at home trying to score from second for the second out of the inning.
