
No. 64 UNF to Face No. 70 ETSU in A-Sun Finals

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – No. 64 University of North Florida women's tennis team will face No. 70 East Tennessee State in the finals of the 2010 Atlantic Sun Conference Women's Tennis Championship on Saturday, April 17. Match time is set for 1 p.m. at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center on the campus of Stetson University in DeLand, Fla.
The Ospreys (19-2, 9-1 A-Sun) hold the No. 2 seed while the Bucs (17-4, 10-0 A-Sun) are the No. 1 seed in the tournament. UNF defeated Stetson, 4-1 to advance and ETSU downed Campbell, 4-0 in the semifinals.
Sophomore Aline Berkenbrock leads the Ospreys after earning the 2010 Atlantic Sun Player of the Year and a spot on the All-Conference First Team. She is 21-0 on the season at No. 1.
A-Sun second team selection, senior Raquel Castro has a 16-4 mark, playing primarily at No. 2. Joining Castro on the second team was sophomore transfer Danielle Day who has a 19-4 record on the season. Melanie Aguirre was named to the A-Sun All-Freshman team and is 18-9 overall on the season in singles and has a 12-4 mark at No. 5.
Juniors Lauren Holton and Victoria Krook are 17-1 and 19-2, respectively this season. Holton has primarily played at No. 6 while Krook has seen the most time at No. 4.
The Ospreys fell to ETSU, 5-2 on the road during the regular season. UNF picked up points from Berkenbrock at No. 1 with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Yevgeniya Stupak. Krook had a 6-7, 6-2, 6-1 win over Karina Kedzo at No. 4. Aguirre played a tight three set match at No. 5, before being edged, 6-4, 6-7 (2-8), 1-0 (10-3) by Diana Navrostska.
The Bucs are led by a pair of A-Sun All-Conference First Team selections in Stupak and Paula Jaime. Stupak is 16-3 on the season at No. 1 while Jaime has seen the most time at No.3 this season for a 15-2 mark. ETSU also placed Navrostska and Andra Voinea on the all-conference second team. Navrostska also earned a spot on the all-freshman team and is 10-4 at No. 5. Voinea has a 15-1 mark at No. 6.
