Biography

2008-09 (junior): Tallied a singles record of 18-3 in the No. 2 position in duals… had a win over No. 30 FIU’s Maria Vallasciani… went undefeated at home… notched a doubles record of 17-4 with partner Aline Berkenbrock in the No. 1 position… ranked as high as No. 47 in the nation in doubles… had a win over the No. 59 duo of Jenny Frisell and Elvira Serrot of UCF… also had a win over No. 30 FIU’s Maria Pazo and Mariana Muci.

Prior to UNF: Played two seasons at Central Florida Community College in Ocala, Fla…. named the team’s Most Valuable Player in 2008… was runner-up in the NJCAA national tournament in doubles in 2007 and runner-up in both singles and doubles in 2008… twice honored as CFCC’s Female Athlete of the Year (2007 and 2008).

Other Experience: Played in Puerto Rico vs. Dominican Republic Challenge, Copa Yucatan and Junior Davis Cup, finishing as a runner-up in each… won six-consecutive titles (1995-2000) in the Torneo Rexona… also played in Les Petits A’s in Tarbes, France (2002), Copa Casa Blanca in Mexico (2003) and Titic in El Salvador (2002)… has been ranked the No. 1 tennis player in the Dominican Republic since 1995… ranked No. 27 in COTECC… began playing competitive tennis at the age of seven.

Personal: Majoring in Advertising… daughter of Ramon Castro and Jacinta Betances… has three brothers, Raul, Ruber and Rodolfo, who played tennis at USC Upstate (then USC Spartanburg)… born July 28, 1988 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
