Jacksonville leads the all-time series 24-11, including a 14-4 record at Harmon Stadium. JU opened the series with seven straight victories. In the last 10 games of the series, the two teams have battled even with both teams winning five games. Last season, JU claimed the series 2-1, while in 2008, UNF won the series 2-1 at Harmon Stadium. The Ospreys also claimed the 2007 series winning 2-out-of-3 on the road.
The Ospreys enter the weekend 9-9 on the season after a two-game split with Troy earlier in the week. UNF dropped the first game 9-6, but won game two 10-9 at Riddle-Pace Field in Troy, Ala.
In the victory, UNF was outhit 17-to-11, but managed to score just enough runs to pick up the win. Michael Smith and T.J. Thompson each had three hits on the day. Smith finished the day a single away from the cycle, recording a double, a triple and a home run on the afternoon. Thompson was a triple away from the cycle as he had a single, a double and a home run. Smith led all UNF players with seven RBI.
Jacksonville enters the weekend 10-7 overall and 3-0 in the A-Sun. After nearly three hours of waiting due to rain in their last outing, the Dolphin pitching staff put in a stellar effort in staff mode but the JU baseball team dropped a 3-2 contest at College of Charleston, Tuesday afternoon at Patriot Point. JU held on to a 2-1 lead in the eighth inning but were not able to hold CofC from scoring a run in the eighth and a run in the ninth. The Dolphins opened Atlantic Sun Conference play last weekend with a three-game sweep of Belmont.
