
Ospreys Split With FAMU

In the first game the Rattlers (5-5) went ahead early with the help of two doubles that put FAMU on top 1-0.
The Ospreys (3-12) went scoreless until the top of the fourth when Findley reached first on a single and then was moved to second by junior Caroline Torre's sacrifice bunt. Senior Kara Rutenbar tied up the game 1-1 with a double down the left field line.
FAMU broke the tie in the bottom of the sixth with the help of an Osprey error that allowed the Rattlers to get a runner on first with no outs. Following the error the Rattlers, who had left nine on base throughout the day, made the most of their base runner with a sacrifice bunt that moved the runner to third for FAMU's winning run.
The Ospreys got a hit a in the seventh but stranded the tying run on first base.
In the second game the Ospreys were the first to score with a rally starting double by sophomore Britanie Block that soon advanced to third on FAMU pitcher Jennifer Lindsey's (2-2) passed ball.
Sophomore Ariana Godwin's sharp grounder to the shortstop was not be deep enough to bring Block home. Leftfielder Rutenbar would walk, leaving a fielder's choice by Torre to send UNF's shortstop home for the first score.
The Rattlers strung a couple of base hits together in the sixth to tie the game at one apiece.
Sophomore Shaina Dent, who started the game, threw 6 2/3 innings, allowing two hits and one earned run was relieved by Findley after walking the second and third batters in the seventh inning.
Findley got the Ospreys out of a crucial game ending jam in the seventh with the Rattlers stranding runners on first and second.
In the top of the ninth UNF prevailed with a game winning double by Findley that brought Rutenbar safely home for the only run the Ospreys would need to capture their third win of the season.
The win was not solely won by a senior but saved by a senior with Rutenbar's outfield assist. With a runner on third and FAMU mustering a hit to right field, Rutnebar was able to stop the advancing runner with her throw to the plate, ending the Rattler's ninth inning comeback.
