"It was an exciting first day of the meet, breaking three school records in five events," head coach Beth Harrell stated. "We are swimming really well and I am really excited. I am looking forward to Day Two and hopefully breaking a few more records."Â
In the women's 500-yard freestyle, junior Lyn Ann Nelson took top honors with a NCAA B-cut time of 4:50.67. The victory marked the sixth time that she has earned All-CCSA accolades and the second NCAA B-cut time in her career.
In the preliminaries of the 200-yards individual medley, sophomore Amanda Anderson (2:06.08) and freshman Sara Evans (2:06.63) each posted times that beat UNF's school record time (2:07.19) in the event set by Taylor Crosby last season. In the finals of the event, Evans improved her time to 2:06.38, but Crosby regained the record with a time of 2:05.64.Â
