
UNF Drops Game to Stetson, 75-62

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Despite three players hitting double-digit points, the University of North Florida women's basketball team dropped an Atlantic Sun Conference game to Stetson, 75-62 on Saturday afternoon at UNF Arena.
The Ospreys (1-6, 0-2 A-Sun) were led by Kim Baker who tallied 14 points, just two shy of her career-high. Brittany Kirkland added 13 points. Juliemay Syquio recorded a double-double with 10 points and a career-high tying 10 assists. Larkira Jones and Margaret Bell had eight rebounds each.
Leading the Hatters (3-4, 1-1 A-Sun) was Natasha Graboski with 21 points. Sasha Sims added 18 points while Tierra Brown and Victoria McGowan notched 11 and 10 points, respectively. Janelle Mills grabbed a team-high six rebounds and McGown had seven assists.
Both teams came out firing in the first half as both hit 50 percent from the field. UNF took an early lead, going up seven, 13-6 at the 14:42 mark. The Ospreys maintained their lead and were up 25-18 with 7:28 on the clock, but the Hatters answered with a 13-0 run over the next three minutes to take a six point, 31-25 lead with 4:30 left in the half. The two teams were tied at 36 with just under a minute left, but a free throw by the Hatters gave them a 37-36 advantage going into the break.
Coming out the intermission, the Ospreys went on a run and reclaimed the lead midway through the half, up 54-47. UNF maintained the lead over the next five minutes, but the Hatters again made a late half run and took the 61-60 lead with 3:29 left in the half. Stetson closed out the game with a 14-2 run to secure the win.
The Ospreys held the 34-30 advantage on the boards. Both teams shot well from the field, with UNF hitting 44.4 percent (25-of-54) and the Hatters connecting on 48.2 percent (27-of-56). Stetson held the advantage at the free throw line, hitting 72.7 percent (16-of-22) while the Ospreys hit 61.5 percent (8-of-13).
UNF will be back in action on Sunday, Dec. 12 when the Ospreys make the trip to Tampa, Fla. to face South Florida. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
