
Women’s Basketball Set to Face USF

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida women's basketball team will travel to Tampa, Fla. to face the Big East's University of South Florida on Sunday, Dec. 12 in a 2 p.m. contest at the Sun Dome.
UNF (1-6, 0-2 A-Sun) fell to Stetson, 75-62 in the team's last outing. Kim Baker led the team in scoring with 14 points while Brittany Kirkland added 13. Juliemay Syquio notched 10 points and 10 assists.
Kirkland leads the team on the season with 15.1 points per game. Syquio is adding 8.6 points per game while dishing out 3.6 assists per game. Larkira Jones is grabbing 7.7 rebounds per game, tallying 1.3 blocks and adding 6.7 points per game.
The Bulls (5-4, 0-1 Big East) fell to No. 1 UConn, 80-54 in their last outing. Andrea Smith led the Bulls with 20 points and Porche Grant grabbed 13 rebounds.
Smith leads USF with 17.8 points per game. Kaneisha Saunders is adding 8.1 points per game and has handed out a team-high 44 assists on the season. Grant is tallying team-best 9.7 rebounds per game.
This is the fifth meeting between the two teams with USF leading the series, 4-0. The Bulls picked up a 62-48 win last season in the Sun Dome. Kirkland had 16 points in the game and Syquio added 14 points and six assists.
Following Sunday's game the Ospreys will return to UNF Arena to host the Annual Osprey Holiday Classic, Dec. 18-19. Participating in this year's classic are Troy, Bethune-Cookman and UMKC. The first game of the classic will tip at 1 p.m. on Dec. 18 between BCU and UMKC followed by UNF against Troy at 3 p.m.
