JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida men's cross country team travels to Spartanburg, S.C. for the USC Upstate Invitational set to be run on Saturday, Oct. 16, at Milliken Research Park. The competition is also serving as a preview of the Atlantic Sun Conference Championships being held on the same course on Oct. 30.
The Ospreys will compete against nine teams in the men's race, including A-Sun foes USC Upstate, East Tennessee State and Mercer. Also competing are Belmont Abbey, Darton, Limestone, Newberry, Piedmont and Wofford.
North Florida will be looking to keep improving this weekend as three of the Ospreys' top five runners tallied career-best times at last weekend's FSU Invitational. Sophomore James Post, leading the squad for the second time this season, paced North Florida in Tallahassee with his time of 26:10.53 and a 30th-place finish. Junior Cameron Dickerson and freshman Chris Haynes also notched personal-bests last week.
The men's collegiate 8,000 meter race is slated to begin at 10:45 a.m. (ET). Following Saturday's meet, the team will have a weekend off to continue its training before returning to Spartanburg on Oct. 30 for the Atlantic Sun Conference Championships.
