
UNF to Host USC Upstate

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida women's basketball team will host Atlantic Sun foe USC Upstate on Thursday, Jan. 21 at 5:30 p.m. at UNF Arena. It is a doubleheader with the men's team, who tip at 7:45 p.m.

Leading the Ospreys (5-13, 2-7 A-Sun) is sophomore guard Brittany Kirkland with 14.8 points per game and 4.0 assists per game. Junior guard Juliemay Syquio is averaging 8.3 points while freshman forward Jadhken Kerr is adding 7.9 points per game. Senior forward Arlande Cherizol is tallying a team-high 8.1 rebounds per game.
UNF is coming off a close, 64-58 overtime loss to Jacksonville. Kirkland tallied a career-high 25 points while Cherizol set a career-high for the second straight game with 18 rebounds.
For the Spartans (10-7, 4-4 A-Sun) Chelsea McMillan is averaging 13.6 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. Kendra Wallace is adding 10.5 points per game.
Upstate defeated Kennesaw State, 73-66 in its last outing. Three players, Courtney Hawkins, Lesley Daniel and Shadae Thompson, tallied 13 points for the Spartans while McMillan grabbed 10 boards.
UNF holds an 11-3 all-time series record over the Spartans. The two teams split last season with each winning on its respective home court. The Ospreys picked up the 74-64 win at UNF Arena last season. Kirkland had 16 points in the game while Syquio added 13.
Single-game tickets for basketball games are $10 for adults and $8 for youth 17-and-under and senior citizens 55-and-older. One ticket will admit you to both the 5:30 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. games on Thursday. Children 2-and-under and any current UNF student with a valid Osprey1 Card are admitted free. Student guest passes for those events are $5 and limited to one per student.
