UNF goes to USF Tuesday at 4 p.m.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Away from Harmon Stadium for the last time in 2009, the University of North Florida baseball team will play one and a half games at South Florida in mid-week action as the two complete last Wednesday's suspended game before facing off for the Ospreys' non-conference finale.
After a 37-minute lightning delay in the third inning last Wednesday night, rain and lightning forced the permanent suspension of the contest in the fifth inning with UNF leading the Bulls, 7-6. Freshman TJ Gavlik smacked a two-RBI, go ahead single for the Ospreys only moments before the game was put on hold.
Over the weekend, UNF took two of three from USC Upstate and now sits seventh in the Atlantic Sun Conference standings. The Ospreys scored 21 runs to win game one before being edged 8-7 in game two. UNF grabbed the rubber match on Sunday for the series win – UNF's first series win on the road this season.
On the other hand, USF dropped two of three to Notre Dame this past weekend. The Bulls slipped in the first two games over the weekend and edged the Irish on Sunday, 6-5. Despite the pair of losses, USF still sits atop the Big East standings.

He drove in four runs, smacked a round tripper and cracked a double in UNF's series-opening win at Upstate before adding two RBIs, a double and another homer in game two. Preckajlo capped the weekend with a 4-for-5 performance on Sunday. He scored twice, knocked in two runs, stole a base and finished a home run shy of hitting for the cycle.

Notables: UNF's 21 runs against USC Upstate marked the most runs scored by the Ospreys since 2003 when the team set a record with 28 against Kennesaw State (4/5/08) … junior Preston Hale ranks 13th in the league with a .378 batting average during A-Sun play … this season, for the first time in program history, the Ospreys defeated Miami, Florida and Florida State in the same season, and all were nationally ranked this season … last season was the first-ever meeting between UNF and USF in Harmon Stadium … in mid-week action, UNF is 2-6 on the road this season … the Ospreys close the season at home against Kennesaw State with a single game Thursday and a Friday doubleheader.
