Bowen and Guldager are four-year letterwinners
Â
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Two seasoned seniors will make their final appearance in UNF Arena Saturday afternoon when the University of North Florida women's basketball team wraps up its home schedule with a 2 p.m. Atlantic Sun Conference contest against Stetson.
Seniors Jennifer Bowen and Jennifer Guldager have been with UNF (6-20, 5-12 A-Sun) since its first season of NCAA Division I competition, leading the squad through the transitional period and helping it prepare for full-fledged Division I action next season.
The tandem has collectively amassed 213 games played, 167 starts, 1,312 points, 1,009 rebounds and five A-Sun All-Academic honors. Guldager moved into second place all-time on the career games started list when she made her 97th start as a Lady Osprey against Mercer. In 2007-08, the Lady Ospreys began to rewrite the UNF women's basketball record book, compiling 12 new additions to the list between team and player records. Guldager put her name on the career record list in rebounding and games started while Bowen made strides in career field goals attempted, 3-point field goals made and 3-point field goals attempted.
Bowen and Guldager will continue to march toward the top of their respective career record lists. While Guldager will not eclipse Skye Barber's mark of 108 game starts, she will move into third place all-time in career rebounds with 28 after eclipsing Lady Osprey assistant coach Nancy Miller's fourth-place standing with her seven-rebound performance against Florida Gulf Coast Thursday night. Bowen would move into sixth all-time in 3-point field goals made with three more makes and fifth all-time with 10.Â
Earlier this season, the Lady Ospreys gathered their first-ever win at Stetson (8-19, 5-13) with a 62-52 victory. Freshman Brittany Kirkland scored a career-high 24 points and sophomore Juliemay Syquio netted 13 points and a career-best eight steals.
Stetson currently sits one position behind the eighth place Lady Ospreys in the A-Sun standings. If the regular season ended today and no A-Sun teams were ineligible for postseason play due to NCAA transfer regulations (including UNF), the Lady Ospreys would qualify for the A-Sun Tournament.

She also tied her career high of 20 minutes played while tabbing two steals and pulling three rebounds off the offensive glass.
Quoting Coach Tappmeyer: Â "I think it is very important for the team to recognize the hard work our two seniors have put into this program without any real benefit for themselves. They have laid the groundwork for the rewards the rest of the girls will be able to experience in the future of this program. We need a tremendous crowd to make their last game on this floor the most special one yet."
