Rutenbar has pair of hits in loss to Western Carolina

ORLANDO, Fla. (Feb. 15, 2009) – The University of North Florida softball team closed out its second-straight game at the UCF Early Bird Tournament with an extra inning contest, falling to Western Carolina 2-0.

It was third-straight game for the Lady Ospreys (3-10) that was decided on the final at-bat after both of Saturday's games also came down to the last inning.

Devyn Findley (0-6) continued her streak of tough luck, as she received only one run from her offense in three games over the weekend. Findley surrendered one earned run and gave up six hits on Sunday while tying her season-high with 12 strikeouts.

Kara Rutenbar had two of UNF's three hits to lead the offense. Caroline Torre collected UNF's third hit of the day.

Western Carolina's Lauren Ross was able to outlast Findley and lead her team to its first win of the season. She allowed only three hits on the day, while walking one and striking out three. Ross also had a pair of hits to lead the Western Carolina offense.

UNF is back in action on Wednesday when it opens play at home with a doubleheader against Albany that starts at 4 p.m.
