Lady Ospreys face Campbell at 2 p.m. on Saturday
Â
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – During Saturday's Valentine's Day women's basketball matchup between the University of North Florida and Campbell, the Lady Ospreys will help raise breast cancer awareness while trying to string together their third-straight home win.
UNF (5-18, 4-10 Atlantic Sun Conference) knocked off USC Upstate and upset then-conference frontrunner East Tennessee State in its last set of games at UNF Arena at the end of January. In February, the Lady Ospreys have fallen victim to a pair of four-point losses at Mercer and Kennesaw State.
Campbell (10-14, 3-12 A-Sun) has lost six of its last seven since defeating the Lady Ospreys 61-38 in Buies Creek, N.C., on Jan. 19. The lone win for the Camels in their recent skid came against Lipscomb on Feb. 5. Campbell leads the league in rebounding defense (35.5 rpg) and ranks second in rebounding offense at 40.8 boards per game.
The Lady Ospreys are third in rebounding defense at 37.7 rpg and seventh in rebounding offense (38.3 rpg). UNF tops the Camels in the A-Sun standings by one spot, holding on to the ninth slot.
In the first meeting between the two this season, senior Jennifer Bowen and sophomore Juliemay Syquio paced the UNF squad with nine points each, but the Lady Ospreys pulled down only 32 total rebounds (12 by freshman Kayla Mobley). The Camels racked up a .449 shooting percentage and a .417 mark from beyond the 3-point arc to deal UNF a 61-38 loss.
The Camels have lost two straight, including a home loss to Belmont on Feb. 7 and most recently a 73-51 loss at Jacksonville Thursday night.

Who's Hot: Sophomore Brittany Jones saw 27 minutes of action at Kennesaw State – the second-highest total of the season for her. She notched a career-high-tying 10 points and went 6-for-6 from the free throw line. Her marks of six free throws attempted and made are both career bests in the two categories.
Quoting Coach Tappmeyer: "With three of our next four games at home, it is important for us to pick up some wins right now. But that will be a big challenge without Jen Bowen in the lineup. She is doubtful at least for Saturday with the hand injury she suffered at Kennesaw State. We need to take care of business early and we must defend Campbell's interior presence much better than we did the first time around."
