
UNF makes it six straight in CCSA

LynAnn Nelson breaks own record in 1000-free
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The University of North Florida women's swimming and diving team continued its string of success with Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association dual wins over College of Charleston and Florida A&M on Thursday at the UNF Aquatic Center.
UNF (5-1, 5-0 CCSA) posted a 161-76 final score against C of C while notching a 187-12 tally against FAMU. The Lady Ospreys took first in all but one event and finished first and second in five events. The victories extended UNF's conference dual win streak to six.
Sophomore Lyn Ann Nelson had another stellar performance that was highlighted with a UNF record-breaking performance in the 1000-free (10:30.24). The time broke her previous school record of 10:30.88, set last season against New Orleans. In addition to Nelson's top finish in the 1000-free, she also took first in the 200-free (1:56.56) and 500-free (5:10.53). It was the third time this season she's tallied three individual first-place finishes in a meet this year.
Sophomore Sara Taylor picked up a trio of top finishes, including two individual first-place showings. She posted a season-best time of 55.59 in the 100-free and clocked in at 25.62 in the 50-free, which was the first time this season she had competed in the event. Taylor also teamed with junior Emily Shaw, sophomore Patricia Lanoue and senior Caroline Poling to set a new season-best time of 1:42.74 in the 200-free relay and take first-place honors.
Junior Kelly Gillis was the top finisher in the 200-IM (2:12.71) and took three seconds off her time in UNF's previous meet. Poling took the top spot in the 100-fly and recorded a season-best time in the process, clocking in at 58.43.
Freshman Gala Poon took first in the 100- back (1:00.14) and took off nearly two seconds off her time in UNF's last meet. Freshman Taylor Crosby recorded her second-straight first-place finish in the 100-breast with a time of 1:10.49.
Senior diver Emily Eisenhower took first in 1-meter diving with a score of 206.56. She now has 19 career first-place finishes and has now notched at least one first-place showing in six-straight duals.
The Lady Ospreys will return to action at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 17 when they travel to Fort Myers, Fla., to take on Florida Gulf Coast.
