Lady Ospreys drop dual at Florida Gulf Coast
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - University of North Florida women's swimmer Lyn Ann Nelson shattered her own UNF record in the 1000-free for the second-straight meet on Saturday against Florida Gulf Coast.
Nelson beat her personal best by nearly five seconds, swimming the event in 10:25.47 to finish in third place. She also took second in the 500-free with a time of 5:08.89.
The Lady Ospreys (5-2, 5-1 Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association) were able to capture first in two events, but it wasn't enough to overtake the Eagles, who came into the dual ranked No. 4 in the CollegeSwimming.com Mid-Major Poll. FGCU claimed the meet 129-71 to snap UNF's six-dual conference win streak.
Freshman Taylor Crosby captured first in the 100-breast, clocking in at 1:08.76 to set a new season best. She also finished second in the 200-IM with a time of 2:14.45.
UNF will return to action at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24 when it takes on Georgia Southern at the UNF Aquatic Center.
