UNF will try to extend two-game A-Sun winning streak
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The University of North Florida baseball team will try to put a nice tune together when it heads to Nashville this weekend for a three-game series against Atlantic Sun Conference foe Belmont.
The Ospreys snapped a three-game winning streak on Wednesday night with a 7-1 loss to South Florida in Tampa, Fla. UNF did have more than one hit in an inning until the top of the ninth, when senior T.J. Gaudy and freshman Michael R. Smith had back-to-back singles. Smith's base hit drove sophomore Andrew Hannon in to score, who reached earlier on an error. UNF had won five of its last six games prior to Wednesday.
Belmont is coming off a 5-3 loss to Austin Peay in Nashville on Wednesday in a non-conference matchup. The Bruins notched just five hits in the game, led by Derek Wiley's solo home run. Belmont pitching allowed three home runs. The loss extended the Bruins' losing streak to five games. Jacksonville swept Belmont in a three-game series last weekend, which brought the Bruins' conference losing streak to five games.
