Lady Ospreys play a pair in Nashville

The University of North Florida women's basketball team will head to Nashville for a pair of games this weekend, taking on Belmont Saturday afternoon before traveling across town to play Lipscomb Monday night.

The Lady Ospreys (9-12, 4-5 A-Sun) face off with Belmont Saturday afternoon in search of their first win at the Curb Event Center. UNF is 0-2 against Belmont on the road and is trying to snap a two-game losing streak against the Bruins (11-11, 5-4 A-Sun).

As well as trying to avoid a three-game losing streak at the hands of Belmont, UNF is also trying to avoid its first three-game losing streak of the season.

Lady Ospreys head coach Mary Tappmeyer shuffled the starting lineup in the team's last outing, giving Brittney Jones her second start of the year. The move paid off with Jones tying her career-high of 10 points, while pulling down six rebounds.

Freshman center Dominique Barbosa also scored a career-high against Gardner-Webb, posting 11 points in 12 minutes of action.

While UNF is winless at Belmont, the Lady Ospreys have captured wins in their first two visits to Lipscomb and are 4-0 against the Bisons since joining the Atlantic Sun.

UNF enters the weekend tied for seventh in the Atlantic Sun with both Lipscomb and Campbell and one game behind Belmont in the standings.

Quoting Coach Tappmeyer: “Belmont will be a tough test for us. They are a very capable offensive team and we will need to match their intensity. The team must have a different mind set to win on the road in conference.”
