The Ospreys had an extra day of rest on Tuesday when their game against Division II foe Flagler was rained out. UNF kickstarted its season by winning two of three games from previously 23rd-ranked Mississippi State last weekend.
UNF got a spark going against the Bulldogs on Saturday when it scored 13 unanswered runs after trailing 9-4. The Ospreys followed it up on Sunday by jumping out to a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the first and never looking back.
Florida Gulf Coast began its season with a three-game sweep of Southeastern University, a National Christian College Athletic Association school. The Eagles routed Florida International 13-1 on Wednesday night. Ozzie Borrell led FGCU by going 5-for-6 with two doubles, a home run and four RBIs.
