The home team has now won all six games in the three-year series.
UNF (13-15, 8-7 A-Sun) and the Lady hatters (8-20, 6-9 A-Sun) played to a 26-26 tie in the opening half of play, but UNF came out cold in the second half, not hitting a shot from the field until the 9:28 mark of the half, missing its first nine shots. That allowed Stetson to open the half on a 15-2 run before holding off a late UNF rally.
Brittany Carannante led the Lady Hatters with 14 points, scoring nine of those in the final five minutes. Juliemay Syquio and Antoinette Reames each scored seven points to lead the Lady Ospreys.
Stetson led 41-28 before Syquio stole an inbound pass and laid it in for UNF's first basket of the second half. She completed a three-point play to start a rally that saw the Lady Ospreys cut the Stetson lead to four. Jennifer Guldager contributed a 3-pointer in the run, while Jennifer Bowen scored four-straight points for the Lady Ospreys.
Carannante took over down the stretch, however, leading Stetson on a 15-4 run to close the game and secure the split in the season series for Stetson.
Ayesha Barkley followed Carannante with 10 points for the Lady Hatters, which shot 46.2 percent from the field in the second half and 38.6 percent for the game. UNF shot 19.2 percent in the second half and 28.1 percent for the game.
Shennette Sheffield, Shandrea Moore, Bowen and Guldager all followed Syquio and Reames in the scoring column, finishing the game with six points.
The Lady Ospreys pounded the ball inside early, scoring their first four points in the paint before expanding the offense from there. Reames – who made the start on Thursday in the place of an injured Brittany Jones – scored six of the team's first 10 points before Guldager gave UNF a 13-6 lead with a 3-pointer.
While UNF was doing the majority of its work in the paint, Stetson hit three of its first seven shots beyond the 3-point arc and eventually took a 17-15 advantage. The Lady Hatters hit 4-of-10 shots beyond the 3-point arc in the game, while UNF hit 2-of-9.
Stetson led by as many as four points in the opening half, but Sheffield scored the last four points of the half for the Lady Ospreys to even the score 26-26 at the break.
