UNF, KSU to tip off at 7 p.m. Thursday night on UNF's campus
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The University of North Florida men's basketball team will open its final homestand of the 2007-08 season on Thursday night when it plays host to an old foe in Kennesaw State at 7 p.m. and then welcomes more than a dozen former Osprey players during a special halftime presentation.
UNF will square off against its long-time foe and former Division II Peach Belt Conference rival for the second time this season. The Ospreys and Owls began their transition to Division I at the same time three years ago and are now both members of the Atlantic Sun Conference. Neither is eligible for A-Sun postseason tournament, but the games between them have a history for being close and hard-fought. The last three games between the squads at UNF Arena have been decided by a total of nine points - including last season's 68-66 thriller won by KSU in overtime.
As part of the year-long 25-Year Celebration of UNF Athletics, the UNF men's basketball program will honor former past players during a halftime ceremony. More than a dozen former players and coaches are expected to be on hand for the event, including two of the four top scorers of all time - Koran Godwin and Chris Sneed. Each of the players will be honored during a halftime ceremony.
UNF plays its final home game of the season on Saturday against Mercer at 4:15 p.m.
