DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The University of North Florida men's tennis team got back on the winning track on Thursday afternoon by knocking off Bethune-Cookman 6-1 in a non- conference match.
With the win, the Ospreys (11-7) bounced back from a difficult 4-3 loss to 50th-ranked Denver on March 25 and won for the seventh time in their last eight matches. Bethune-Cookman fell to 8-12.
UNF swept all three doubles matches to grab the doubles point and then took wins at the bottom five spots in singles to clinch the victory.
Eduardo Pereira (6-0, 6-2 at No. 2), Javier Ferrin (6-3, 6-1 at No. 3), Ben Smith (6-1, 6-0 at No. 4), Elad Gabay (6-0, 6-1 at No. 5) and Leonardo Gomes (6-0, 6-0 at No. 6) posted singles wins for UNF. The teams of Gomes and Ferrin (8-1 at No. 1), Sigal and Marshall (8-2 at No. 2) and Pereira and Gabay (8-3 at No. 3) grabbed doubles victories.
The Ospreys return to action at home on April 12 when they play host to UCF at the UNF Tennis Complex.
