Men's Tennis Shines at Gridiron Classic

MACON, Ga. - North Florida men's tennis picked up 13 wins over three days of competition at the Gridiron Classic hosted by Mercer from Oct. 3-5 at LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center.
The Ospreys were headlined by Kyle Piqueras, who went 4-0 in singles play over the weekend and took home the Flight C2 singles title with a straight-set win over UNF teammate Benjamin Scott. Scott had the biggest win of his career thus far during the second day of singles with a three-set thriller over the top seed in his draw to reach the finals.
UNF finished the weekend with a 13-7 overall record, as 10 of the 13 wins came during singles competition. Saturday was the highlight of the tournament for the Ospreys with an 8-1 combined mark between both doubles and singles from the four players who competed in the tournament.
North Florida will return shortly with the ITA Southeast Regional Championship taking place from Oct. 8-13 at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex in Gainesville, Fla.
