BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - The University of North Florida men's tennis team bounced back from its first-ever Atlantic Sun Conference loss on Sunday to post a 5-2 win over A- Sun foe Gardner-Webb on Monday afternoon.

The Ospreys (5-6, 4-1 A-Sun) swept doubles play against the Bulldogs (1-8, 0-1 A-Sun) and captured wins at the top three singles positions to pull within a game of .500 for the season. UNF's Matias Sigal survived a first-set tiebreak to upend Evgeny Slesarev, 7-6 (8), 6-2, at the No. 1 position, while UNF's Eduardo Pereira survived a battle at the No. 2 spot in the lineup for the Ospreys by outlasting GWU's Roberto Vasques, 3-6, 6-4, 10-7.

Javier Ferrin won 7-5, 6-0 at the No. 3 position, and Andres Monje 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 6 position for UNF as well, helping UNF win for the fifth time in seven matches.

GWU's Gabe Veiga knocked off UNF's Elad Gabay, 6- 7 (7), 7-5, 10-6 at the No. 4 position in one of the hardest-fought matches of the day. UNF's Glen Marshall also lost to GWU's Grant Van Rensburg, 6-2, 6-0, at the No. 5 spot.

UNF, which joined the A-Sun prior to the 2005-06 season, had not lost in A-Sun play prior to Sunday's loss at ETSU. The Ospreys were 7-0 in two seasons of leage play prior to falling in Johnson City. With Monday's win, UNF is now 8-1 all-time against league foes.

The Ospreys return to action on Saturday at the UNF Tennis Complex when they square off against South Carolina State. Match time is set for 2 p.m.
