
Swimmers ready for busy weekend

UNF to compete at two events in North Carolina
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The University of North Florida women's swimming team will have a full slate of action this weekend, first with a dual at North Carolina A&T on Thursday, followed by the Davidson Invitational Friday-Sunday.
UNF's meet against NC A&T begins at 6 p.m. in Greensboro, N.C. It will be the Ospreys' first road Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association meet of the season. The Aggies last swam on Oct. 6 in a 106-80 dual loss to Radford.
The Davidson Invitational will include fellow CCSA members Gardner-Webb, College of Charleston, Howard, Georgia Southern, Radford, Florida A&M and Davidson. UNF finished in fourth last season at the event.
The Ospreys are coming off a 190-98 conference dual win over Campbell on Nov. 3 at the UNF Aquatic Center. Junior Caroline Poling led UNF with wins in the 100-backstroke, 200-backstroke, 100- butterfly and 200-medley relay, while junior Emily Eisenhower swept 1 and 3-meter diving. Both Poling and Eisenhower were named CCSA Swimmer and Diver of the Week after their standout performances.

Who's Hot: Freshman Lyn Ann Nelson continued her impressive early run this season, picking up wins in the 200-freestyle (1:55.86) and 100- freestyle (54.21) against Campbell on Nov. 3. It was the first time this season Nelson competed in those events. Nelson began her season with a pair of wins (50-freestyle and 500-freestyle) against Vanderbilt on Oct. 19.
Notables: UNF is competing at North Carolina A&T for the third-straight year ... it will be the third consecutive season the Ospreys are competing in the Davidson Invitational ... UNF has had at least one swimmer or diver win a CCSA weekly award following every dual this year ... Nelson's time of 5:06.03 in the 500-freestyle, recorded against Vanderbilt on Oct. 19, is the second-best time in the CCSA this season ... both Eisenhower and Debbie Rapoza's scores in 1 and 3-meter diving rank No. 1 and 2 in the CCSA, respectively ... UNF's time of 8:04.60 in the 800-freestyle relay ranks first in the CCSA.
