
UNF can't catch UNCW

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The University of North Florida swimming and diving team fell to UNC-Wilmington 162-127 Saturday at the UNF Aquatics Center.
UNF took home first-place finishes in both diving events, but fell behind the Seahawks in the swimming events and never recovered in losing its first home event of the year.
UNC-Wilmington won the first 11 events, before Marie Yeager finally broke the string for the Lady Ospreys in the 100-yard butterfly, winning in a time of 1:00.56. Yeager was also a part of the 400-yard freestyle relay team that closed out the meet with a win for UNF.
UNF trailed 109-41 at the midway point.
Debbie Thornburry won the 1-meter diving competition, with Amber Price finishing third for the Lady Ospreys. Price bettered Thornburry in the 3-meter competition, finishing first, with Thornburry coming in second. Thornburry earned the win with a score of 257.85. The Seahawks' Katie Shaw finished second in the 1-meter competition with a score of 252.90. Price was third with a score of 241.35.
Price registered a score of 292.28 to win the 3-meter competition, while Thornburry finished with a score of 264.90.
The Lady Ospreys are back in action on Jan. 20, when they host Florida Atlantic at the UNF Aquatics Center.
