Madilyn Cantwell enters her fifth season on staff at North Florida in 2026. She joined the staff as an Assistant Coach in March 2022.

Cantwell was twice named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) 30 Under 30 list, which recognizes up-and-coming coaches in the sport.

Cantwell has assisted the Ospreys through its winningest stretch in program history. Since 2022, North Florida has totaled a 100-48 record with two ASUN Conference Championship titles and NCAA Championship berths in 2024 and 2025. It marked the first two NCAA Championship appearances in program history.

Cantwell helped lead North Florida to a program-record 26 wins in 2025 that culminated into its sixth overall and second-straight ASUN Conference Championship title and second-straight NCAA Championship berth. North Florida earned a program-best No. 12 seed in the 2025 NCAA Championship after it secured the No. 16 seed in 2024.

In addition to a program-record win total, North Florida earned its highest ranking in program history at No. 14 in the final AVCA Collegiate Beach Coaches Poll in 2025. The Ospreys were ranked in each installment of the poll in 2025 for the first time in program history.

For the third-straight season, North Florida secured the most combined selections between the ASUN Conference First and Second Team. With six honorees in 2025, North Florida has collected 26 selections under the assistance of Cantwell, which is the most in the conference during this stretch. North Florida has been a top-three seed at the ASUN Conference Championship each season Cantwell has been on staff.

Cantwell helped coach tandems Presley Murray and Mackenzie Murphy to AVCA Top Flight Pair 1 honors in 2025 and Cameron Humphries and Hayden Wooldridge to AVCA Top Flight Pair 4 honors in 2024.

Madilyn McCarty married CB Cantwell, on May 17th, 2025 and the couple currently resides in Jacksonville, Fla.

The Springfield, Ill., native arrived in 2017 after a career at Winthrop. She cemented herself as one of the top Ospreys for the indoor and beach volleyball programs during her time at North Florida. In indoor, she totaled 2,291 assists, 226 kills, 576 digs and 146 blocks and established herself one of the most versatile setters in the ASUN. She finished her career seventh all-time in assists and fourth in the program’s Division I era. On the beach side, she won 44 matches, which included two seasons with 21 wins apiece. In 2019, she named an All-ASUN Second Team selection.

Cantwell earned a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Accounting and Master’s of Business Administration in Accounting from North Florida. She is currently pursuing a Master’s of Education in Athletic Administration from North Florida.
