Former LSU standout point guard and a Jacksonville, Fla., native, Erica White enters her second season as an assistant coach with the University of North Florida women’s basketball team. She works with the Ospreys’ guards and perimeter players and will assist with recruiting and film exchange. White will also help with the team’s academics.

In White’s first season in 2012-13, UNF’s guards and perimeter players exploded with several big games. Against Coastal Carolina, the Ospreys made 13 three-pointers, which was a program Division I record. Five different Ospreys hit a trey against Coastal Carolina, with Destinee Smith and Jadhken Kerr leading the way with six and four three-pointers, respectively. Ki Conner was instrumental in UNF’s road win at ETSU, scoring 23 points on five three-pointers and eight free throws.

Off the court, the UNF continued with its strong performance in the classroom. In the spring semester, 11 Osprey recorded a 3.0 GPA or better with four of those student-athletes have a 4.0 GPA.

White began her coaching career as a graduate assistant on Nikki Caldwell’s staff at LSU during the 2011-12 season. The Lady Tigers finished the season with a 23-10 record and reached the Second Round in the 2012 NCAA Tournament. As part of LSU’s coaching staff, White was responsible for preparing and implementing daily practice plans, assisted in the coordination of filming operations for practices and games, preparing post-game statistic packages and assisting with the team’s recruiting. Additionally, White helped with the coordination of the first-ever Lady Tiger Elite Bowling Classic, a fundraiser event that resulted in approximately $8,000 donated to the LSU women’s basketball program.

White was known as one of the top point guards to play for LSU, helping the Lady Tigers to the Final Four in all four of her seasons from 2004-08. She finished her career as one of the top assist makers in LSU history with 519, which is third all-time. White dished out 10 or more assists five times in her career, including a career-best 14 assists as a sophomore against Vanderbilt on Jan. 26, 2006. During her sophomore campaign, White finished ranked 25th in the nation with 5.4 assists per game. She was a finalist for the 2008 Lieberman Point Guard of the Year and named Second-Team All-SEC and First-Team All-Louisiana as a senior. White was tabbed All-SEC Tournament and Third-Team All-Louisiana as a junior. She was a two-time Academic All-SEC selection, earning the honor as in both her freshman and junior seasons. White, who was a member of the 2006 United States U20 Gold Medal team at the FIBA Americas Championships, was the 17th pick in the 2008 WNBA Draft, getting picked up by the Houston Comets.
Prior to LSU, White had an accomplished career at Ribault High School in Jacksonville. She led the Trojans to three FHSAA state championships and earned All-State and McDonald's All-America honors.

White also played professional basketball in Israel. In 2010 as a member of Hapoael Tel Aviv, she led the Israeli league in assists with 8.5 per game. She also played for Ramat Hasharon in 2011.

A 2009 graduate of LSU, White earned her bachelor’s degree in general studies, while minoring in sociology, sports studies and communications. She is currently pursuing her master’s.
