North Florida women’s basketball sees the return of one of its own, as four-year letterwinner and 2020 North Florida graduate, Adrienne Jackson, returns to Jacksonville to assume the role of director of operations for UNF women’s basketball.
Jackson, a Leesburg, Fla., native, was head coach Darrick Gibbs’ first-ever four-year senior, logging 107 games played, 79 starts and 2,885 minutes played. One of the most balanced players during UNF’s DI-era, Jackson scored 936 points while reeling in 650 rebounds, the first Osprey since 2013 to reach 900-career points and 500-career rebounds.
“A team is more than just a collection of people. The Ospreys are my family and I’m elated to be back on the sidelines,” Jackson said. “We will all move forward together and the success will take care of itself. I just want my actions to inspire, encourage and help the staff and players of this team be great.”
The guard finished in the top ten of the UNF record book in points, three-pointers made, free throws made, rebounds and minutes played. She took her talents overseas to play professional basketball with the Ireland-Super League (2021-22) and Portugal-ACD Ferragudo (2021).
“Adrienne Jackson has been a huge asset to this program from day one,” head coach Darrick Gibbs said. “I have always wanted to bring a former player back on the staff and it’s fitting that she would be the first one. I’m excited about her experience and ability to relate and mentor the young ladies in our program. She has been in their shoes and played at the level many of them are trying to get to. “
Jackson has since held multiple positions in Florida before returning to Jacksonville to complete the North Florida women’s basketball staff.
