Max Benson

Max Benson joined the Osprey men's tennis coaching staff as an assistant coach in the fall of 2024.

In his first season at North Florida, he helped develop Andreas Scott to an ASUN superlative trifecta players with the junior receiving Player, Doubles Pair and Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2025. He also assisted in reeling in an ASUN First Team All-Conference selection, an ASUN All-Freshman honoree, a pair of ASUN Player of the Week awards and two ASUN All-Academic distinctions.

He reunited with head coach John Collins after playing under him at Presbyterian College from 2020-23. He joins Louis Delcour, the former standout at South Alabama entering his second year with the Ospreys, as one of two assistant coaches.

Benson is currently ranked No. 815 in doubles by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP). He captured his first professional tennis championship with a doubles win in the 2024 International Tennis Federation (ITF) M25 Telfs Tournament in Telfs, Austria this past summer.

Benson was a dominant player with the Blue Hose under Collins, winning Big South Player of the Year in 2021. He also won the Big South Freshman of the Year before Collins' arrival in 2019.

The Albany, N.Y., native lead the team to conference tournament victories in both 2021 and 2023, as well as a regular season championship in 2023.

Benson has been ranked as high as No. 22 in ITA doubles and is the most decorated player in the D-I era at Presbyterian. He also adds four-time Big South All-Conference honors, ITA Scholar-Athlete and Big South Honor Roll honoree to his list of career accomplishments at the collegiate level.
