Malte Stropp joined the men's tennis coaching staff at North Florida in August 2014 following a stellar collegiate playing career at Mississippi State.
In his first season at UNF, Stropp helped the Ospreys to a 17-7 overall record that included six victories over nationally-ranked opponents. UNF garnered much national attention throughout the 2014-15 season. The Ospreys were listed in the ITA Team Rankings throughout the spring season and peaked at No. 51 on March 3, which is the second-highest ranking in the program’s Division I history. Additionally, UNF was represented in the ITA Singles Rankings (Jack Findel-Hawkins) and Doubles Rankings (Findel-Hawkins/Norbert Nemcsek) during 2014-15.
A four-year letterwinner for the Bulldogs, Stropp owned a career singles record of 85-50 (55-33 in dual matches) and posted an 81-56 (45-41 dual) in doubles play. In doubles he reached a top national ranking of 6th while climbing as high as 39th in singles.
During his MSU career, Stropp was named the SEC Freshman of the Year in 2011 and also garnered the ITA Southern Region Rookie of the Year award. He earned second-team All-SEC accolades as a junior.
He was named the recipient of MSU's Newsom Award for Tennis, which recognized the top athlete in each sport, and was also voted the best overall male athlete for the Bulldogs in 2013.
In 2013, Stropp advanced to NCAA Singles Championship play along with qualifying with partner Jordan Angus for the NCAA Doubles Championship.
Along with excelling on the court for the Bulldogs, Stropp collected four consecutive Academic All-SEC honors while also earning ITA Scholar Athlete recognition twice. He was a nominee for the SEC's H. Boyd McWhorter Scholar-Athlete Post-Graduate Scholarship as a senior and was named to the Capital One Academic All-District (6) team.
Stropp is a native of Dusseldorf, Germany and graduated from Mississippi State in May of 2014 with a degree in business administration and a 3.97 GPA.
