Prior to North Florida: Attended Boston College before transferring to Panola College in Carthage, Texas…Named the No. 5 Junior College Player in the Country according to Baseball America…Member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
 
High School: Four-year letterwinner at Newark Academy in Livingston, N.J.…Led the Minutemen to the Conference Championship and Sectional Championship in 2007…Helped Newark Academy to the postseason each year of high school…Named First Team All-State as a senior and Second Team All-State as a sophomore…Tabbed All-District, All-Area and All-Region twice…Tossed his best game against Glen Ridge HS, working seven scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out 18…Also played basketball, lettering for four years and being named All-Region, All-District and Team MVP…Named Conference Basketball Player of the Year and 1,000 Point Scorer, finishing his career with 1,164 points…Averaged a double-double on the hardwood (22.0 points per game with 10.6 rebounds per game), helping the Minutemen to four consecutive Conference Championships…Drafted in the 16th round of the 2009 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
