
Baseball Secures Friday Night Road Win At Queens, 10-6

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - North Florida Baseball cruised to a win in Game 1 of its road weekend series at Queens, 10-6, at The Stick at Williams Dream Fields on Friday.
Redshirt junior left-handed pitcher Dakota Stone posted a career-high 11 strikeouts in 7.0 innings pitched while allowing just two runs and one walk. It marked Stone's second time this season recording 10 strikeouts or more.
Four Ospreys notched mutli-hit performances to help bring North Florida's hit total to 14.
Redshirt freshman outfielder Sean Benjamin and redshirt junior utility player Jackson Toberman each turned in three-hit outings with three RBI.
North Florida opened the scoring with a four-run top of the second inning. Toberman drove in North Florida's first run of the game with an RBI single up the middle.
Benjamin tallied his first RBI of the game in the very next at bat with a base hit to left field to give North Florida a 2-0 lead.Â
Toberman crossed home on a wild pitch in the top of the second frame to put North Florida ahead, 3-0.
Junior infielder Mitchell Collins capped off UNF's four-run second inning with an RBI single through the right side.Â
Queens plated its first run in the bottom of the third frame.
Freshman infielder Drew Buchanan belted his third home run of the season in the top of the fourth inning to give North Florida a 5-1 advantage.Â
Stone's sixth strikeout of the game sent the Ospreys to the top of the fifth frame.Â
Benjamin's second RBI single of the game came in the top of the fifth inning and allowed North Florida to command a 6-1 edge.
Queens responded with one run in the bottom of the sixth frame.
Benjamin registered his third RBI of the game with a single to left field in the top of the seventh to give North Florida a 7-2 lead.
Queens answered with two runs in the bottom of the eighth to cut its deficit to just three runs.
Toberman plated a pair of insurance runs with a two-RBI single up the middle in the top of the ninth to put North Florida ahead, 9-4. Ordonez drove in UNF's final run of the game with a sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth, allowing the Ospreys to command a 10-4 advantage.
Queens plated two runs in the bottom of the ninth, though it wasn't enough to overcome the eventual final margin.
