Softball Earns Doubleheader Senior Day Sweep Over West Georgia

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -Â North Florida bounced back for a doubleheader Senior Day sweep over West Georgia on Saturday, April 25, at UNF Softball Complex.

With the win, the Ospreys clinched a berth in the 2026 ASUN Softball Championships.
Â
Following the doubleheader, seniors Ayden Allen, Amanda Aardema, Marley Nagy, Kelsey Vogel, Kate Peters, Taylor Shephard and graduate student Hallie Langford were honored on Senior Day.

In game one of the doubleheader, the Wolves took an early lead scoring an unearned run in the third inning, but the Ospreys answered back in the bottom of the frame taking their first lead of the series with a single up the middle from junior utility player Addie Keef to score two runners and make the score 2-1.Â

A sacrifice flyout from junior infielder Hannah Davila in the fourth inning would push the Osprey lead to 3-1.
Â
Junior infielder Bella Cimino would launch a home run to give the Ospreys a 5-1 lead in the fifth.
Â
Davila would extend the advantage with an RBI double down the left field line to give UNF a five-run lead. The Ospreys continued to talk on runs with a bases-loaded walk from Vogel. Cimino would follow that up with a walk-off run-rule single in the sixth innings to reach the eventual final.

In the circle for the Ospreys, sophomore right-handed pitcher Taylor Cook spun 5.0 innings with just one run allowed and four strikeouts. Junior right-handed pitcher Cameron Ponich tossed a scoreless sixth inning in relief.

In game two, the Ospreys jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning after back-to-back homers from Cimino and Allen. With the homer, Cimino moved into third place in D1 program history with 14 home runs this season.

Davila would tack onto the lead with a three-run blast to left field in the third, her seventh of the season, to make the score 6-0 UNF in the third inning.

Langford swiped a pair of bags to secure her 32nd stolen base of the season in the series finale to take sole possession of second place in the program's D1 History.

Keef would register her 15th-multi hit game of the season with a single in the sixth.
Â
West Georgia would tack on their first run of the game in the sixth.

Back-to-back RBI singles from Cimino and Allen would make the final score 8-1.
Ponich would earn the win in the circle tossing 6.1 innings with just one run allowed. Peters would record the final two outs of the contest.
